The Miss World organization announced a new date for the finals still happening in Puerto Rico. On Wednesday, December 22, the organization picked March 16, 2022, as the coronation date.
“We are so excited that we are staying in Puerto Rico to crown the new Miss World!” Miss World chairperson and president Julia Morley said in a statement. “We have been overwhelmed by the support of the people here! The countdown and final planning has begun. Our team is thrilled that we will show all the wonders that Puerto Rico has to offer as a premier tourism destination to the entire world. We love Puerto Rico.”
Morley said that they have been able to pre-record segments of the finals which will be shown soon.
The pageant was originally scheduled to be held on December 16 but was postponed after several candidates and staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
The Philippines’ representative Tracy Maureen Perez is currently in New York. She hopes to bring the country’s second blue crown after being assured of a Top 30 placement and winning one of the spots for Beauty with a Purpose.
