Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015, is one of the artists lauded as ambassador of arts by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Rappler reported that Pia, along with Ian Veneracion and KZ Tandingan were the three ambassadors of NCAA in time for the “Ani ng Sining: Philippine Arts Festival” celebration.
As a spokesperson for the arts, Wurtzbach said that it is an integral part of history when it comes to knowing what composes our history and culture.
She said: “[Looking at a country’s arts and history,] and there you will see who they are. Our identity is there as seen in art. And I know times have changed. It’s the age of millennials, but I hope that we don’t forget to support our local artists and to support cultural arts in the Philippines.”
As per Pia, she thinks everyone is an art ambassador on their own: “Let’s remember, that in some way, we are all wearing a sash that says “Philippines”.”
On Instagram, she posted:
A productive morning in support for the arts to launch National Arts Month with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines (NCCA) where together with @ianveneracion1 and @kztandingan, we were named as Arts Ambassadors for the year! Such an honor to have this role and there’s much for me to learn. Exciting times ahead!
