Barassi’s creation tells the story of Don Juan who is an “epitome of healing light that was as powerful as Ibong Adarna’s song with his unwavering good heart.”

Carrying with him the sins of his two brothers, Don Juan represents the Filipino warrior who perseveres despite the long and perilous journey. This is represented by two birds perched upon the shoulder of the creation.

Completing the costume is the kampilan, the knife he used to wound himself to catch the legendary bird. For Barassi, the kampilan is a symbol of self-sacrifice, a trait embodied by many Filipinos. 👑
